  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

3.2 Species referred to in Article 4 of Directive 2009/147/EC and listed in Annex II of Directive 92/43/EEC and site evaluation for them

  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

Stafsäters nature reserve is situated in the middle of the Oak District in Östergötland. The landscape is varied with both forests and open farmland in a slightly hilly surrounding. Stafsätter includes 6 different areas which all are dominated by broad-leaved deciduous wood. In the different areas there are features of regular deciduous trees, alluvial forest and coniferous trees. The age of the trees differ between 70-130 years old. In the part called The English Tilia cordata are common. At some places there are very large trees of Quercus robur, Fraxinus excelsior, Betula verrucosa and Populus tremula. Dead wood is found here and there. All species of broadleaved deciduous trees growing in Östergötland are represented in the nature reserve. In previous times most of the areas have been more open and used for grassing and hay-making. Two parts of the site are pastures with old, large and hollow oaks. The pastures are grassed today. The fauna of woodcoleoptera has been examinated and has been found to be very rich. In the area Osmoderma eremita and 25 other, in Sweden, threatened species have been found. There is also an interesting flora of lichens in the site.

4.2 Quality and importance

Stafsätter is a very important site with valueable broad-leaved deciduous wood and an oak pasture with an interesting fauna and flora. Many rare and threatened species have been found in the site. Stafsätter has few similarities in Östergötland.
