Other Site Characteristics

Ängaryd is situated in the southern part of Östergötland in a landscape charaterized by large crevices in the bedrock. The bedrock consist of granite and the soillayer of moraine. Ängaryd is a village situated on the eastern side of the lake Tången. Around the center of the village open farmland with both grassland and fields are found. Wood continues where the farmland stops. The landscape surrounding the village is relatively flat. Here and there small areas of wood are growing. The grassland consist of one small meadow and different kinds of pastures, both open and with trees. Most common trees in the area are Betula verrucosa and Quercus robur. Bushes of Juniperus communis are common. The flora at Ängaryd is rich and includes for example the following species; Nardus stricta, Sieglingia decumbens, Briza media, Arnica montana, Polygonum viviparum and Platanthera bifolia. In the meadow, that have been used for hay-making earlier grow a lot of Arnica montana, Scorzonera humilis and Rhinanthus minor. Old fields, mounds of stones and fences of wood are found at some places in the pastures.

4.2 Quality and importance
