Other Site Characteristics

Bråtberget is situated in the southern part of the county Östergötland. The landscape is hilly and characterized by larger and smaller crevices in the bedrock. Bråtberget includes both oakwood and western taiga in a mosaic. The landscape at Bråtberget is dramatic and includes two steeps. In the steeps there are mostly growing Pinus sylvestris and above the steeps oak is growing. There is dead wood in the area. Several interesting lichens are found in the site and there is also a rich flora of plants.The bedrock in Bråtberget consists of granite and the soil layers consists of moraine.

Bråtberget is very valueable site with old and dead wood in a climatic favoured place. Several threatened species have been found in the site, especially lichens. Places undisturbed by forestry are rare in the landscape.
