Other Site Characteristics
Ramshult - is situated in the hilly and bouldery woodlands. Ramshult is a hamlet of three farms built in the 19th century. They are called Norrgården, Mellangården and Sörgården. They are surrounded by forest, fields and grazing land. The pastureland includes four tree and bush covered pastures, one of which is becoming overgrown. The two pastures at Norrgården are best managed. They are characterised by rounded flat rocks covered with lichen and scattered boulders. There are sparsely growing spruce, pine, and birch of various ages growing together with high cone-shaped hazel shrubs. Junipers of various shapes are spread all over the area, for example "fence junipers". The structure of the vegetation varies with the topography. Everything between dry moor and meadow communities to wet meadow vegetation can be found here. Plants favoured by haymaking and grazing grow all over the are, for example Briza media, Scorzonera humilis, Bistorta vivipara, Platanthera bifolia, Primula veris, and Trollius europaeus. A moist and flat area in the eastern part of the pasture at Norrgården houses a large number of these plants. |
4.2 Quality and importance
Ramshult is a very valueable site with a large number of characteristic species represented in the pasture. There are also cultural values at the site. Ramshult has only few similarities in Östergötland and is on the list of the nationel conservation plan for the agricultural landscape and of national interest. |
