  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

Kristberg - is situated by the northern shore of lake Boren by the outlet of the brook Kristbergsbäcken in the north-western part of Östergötland. There is a gully and an oak pasture at Kristberg. The surrounding landscape is diversified with open grazing land, fields and groves dominated by deciduous trees long the lake. Really coarse oaks are unusual in this part of Östergötland. However, some 50 oaks are sparsely spread in the area of which all have a diameter of more than 1 metre at breast height. Of all the oaks, some 20 have some kind of rot and several have hollows containing mulm (rests from the decay process consisting of woodpowder and small pieces of wood etc inside oaks). There is a valuable low fauna in the pastures at Kristberg. Ten endangered beetles tied to oak were found in an inventory in 1992. There is a brook in the western part of the Kristberg area, cutting through the ground layers and creating a ravine where several species of deciduous trees grow. The ravine also holds several big oaks.

4.2 Quality and importance

Kristberg is a very valueable site with a large number of characteristic species represented in fauna connected to the big oaks. In this site there is over 50 big oaks. There are also floristic values at the site. In the site streams a little brook in a deep ravine. The ravine is a geological interesting site as well as a valueable forest.
