Området består av en mosaik av ädellövskogar, trädklädda betesmarker samt små åkerytor på en udde ut i norra delen av sjön Möckeln. I området ingår även en del av sjön.

4.2 Quality and importance

Området består av en mosaik av ädellövskogar, träd-klädda betesmarker samt små åkerytor på en udde ut i norra delen av sjön Möckeln. I området ingår även en del av sjön och ett flertal mindre öar som domineras av barrblandskog. Skogarna är delvis uppkomna på sjösänkningsmark och igenvuxna ängsmarker. Ädellöv-skogen är mycket heterogen både vad gäller ålders-sammansättning och trädslagssammansättning. Ett re-lativt stort antal gamla hamlade lindar med stora kandelaberformade kronor och bitvis ihåliga stammar förekommer. Inom området finns äldre grova ekar, as-par, björkar och tallar. Artrikedomen är stor både med avseende på flora och fauna. Mal finns i sjön, mindre hackspett, stenknäck och fem fladdermusarter är funna i lövskogarna. Bland svampar bör framför-allt lindskål nämnas.
