Området utgörs av en 2 km lång pir med omgivande grunda vatten, små morän holmar, vassområden samt av öppna betesmarker. In englishThe site consists of a 2 km long pier with surrounding shallow water, morain islets, reeds and open pastures.

Att skydda och bibehålla markernas öppna och betespräglade karaktär. Vårda de betydelsefulla vatten- och landmiljöer samt ge de växt- och djursamhällen som är karakteristiska för dessa livsmiljöer möjlighet att fortleva i livskraftiga bestånd samt ge ett skydd till ingående arter enligt fågeldirektivet. Området präglas av hög kvalitet som häckningsområde för vadare och sjöfåglar. De öppna betesmarkerna är av särskilt högt intresse i detta sammanhang. Området är vidare av stort intresse för rastande fåglar. In englishOne of he main objective is to preserve the in the area open pastures which are formed by grazing. The area holds a high quality as breeding ground for water fowl and waders. The open pastures are especially important in this matter.The area is furthermore of great importance for migratory birds. Furthermore it is crucial to preserve important water and land environments. Conservation of plant- and animal communities characterstic for those enviroments is of great imortance. Populations of bird species listed according to Bird Directive Annex I is one of the objective with the protection of this site.
