Other Site Characteristics

The site mainly consists of beech forests on the eastern slope of the mountain Ryssberget. Ryssberget is about 160 m high and built of precambrian bedrock. The site contains cliffs and fossile beachlines from the litorina-period (4000-7000 years old).

4.2 Quality and importance

An excellent example of beech forest with long continuity. An extremely important site fora large number of red-listed or uncommon insects and lichens which lives in the forest. The beech forest is not influenced by forestry for about 100 years and some of the trees are very old.
