Other Site Characteristics
| Part of a very well defined system of boulder ridges, extending for almost 10 km in east-west direction. A single ridge in the western part of the area divides into several, small parallel ridges in the eastern part. Contrary to most boulder ridges in southernmost Sweden Listarumsåsen is practically devoid of human exploitation in the form of gravel pits. |
4.2 Quality and importance
| Natura 2000-området Listarumsåsens naturreservat är en del av ett mycket väldefinierat system med rullstensåsar, som sträcker sig nästan 10 km i öst-västlig riktning norr om Smedstorp. Åsen i väster delar sig i flera små parallella åsar längre österut. I motsats till de flesta isälvsavlagringar med åsar i södra Sverige är Listarumsåsen praktiskt taget utan mänsklig exploatering när det gäller grustäkter.Området har traditionellt använts som betesmarker och domineras numera av ädellövsskog men i den västra delen finns öppna gräsmarker. De flesta gräsmarker har inte gödslats med moderna jordförbättringsmedel och därför finns det fortfarande en intressant flora. Förekomsten av äldre skog indikerar en hög förekomst av en rik insektsfauna. Rullstensåsen utgör en viktig spridningskorridor för djur och växter i landskapet.Det geografiskt utsträckta ås-systemet är en viktig korridor för spridning av djur och växter i regionen. |
