Other Site Characteristics
Bonnarps hed is situated on top of a flat sandy ridge. The surrounding area has a long history of human settlement, something that also is made clear by the rich occurence of cultural remains in the surroundings. |
4.2 Quality and importance
Dry heath with a very long history as grazing land. Centuries of grazing, in combination with the sandy, pemeable soil has resulted in impoverishment of nutrients, with the concomitant development of the species-rich flora so typical for ancient grasslands. |
4.3 Threats, pressures and activities with impacts on the site

SE00 | 41.00 |
SE99 | 59.00 |
5.3 Site designation (optional)
The site is adopted by the local group of Naturskyddsföreningen (the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation). During the lasts years they have put a considerable effort into the clearing of the formerly dense thickets of junipers in the area. Due to this voluntary work, the present conservation status of the area is excellent.
The neighbouring military air-base is to be closed down during the coming years. As a result of that, the military (the Royal Fortification Administration) most likely will revise their ownership of land in the area. This could effect the future management of the site. Considering the global status of the area it is well worth being turned into a Nature Reserve. |

6.2 Management Plan(s):
An actual management plan does exist:
6.3 Conservation measures (optional)
The site has been cleared in the last few years. In combination with an increased grazing-pattern, this makes the management-status of the area very good. |
