  • NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Cover: decimal values can be entered
  • Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)

Other Site Characteristics

Siesjö is a natural eutrophic lake with extensive belts of reeds and a rich bird-life. The west shore is surrounded by deciduous fen woodland mainly of Alnus glutinosa. North of the lake are species rich humid meadows and alkaline fens containing several rare and endangered species.

4.2 Quality and importance

The Siesjö area is variable and contains several biotopes with high or very high nature values. Siesjö with its surroundings have great importance for many rare and endangered species in this country. The area is also an appreciated destination of excursions.

6.3 Conservation measures (optional)

In the fen of Håkanryd are some willow and young birches that should be removed as soon as possible. The dry/humid meadow areas and fens are at the time managed by grazing. It is however in the future desireable that parts of the fens will be managed by mowing instead.
