Other Site Characteristics

Lyabäcken is a naturally torrent brook where one part is cut into a deep ravine with steep rock faces. On heights and steeps occurs a Luzulo-Fagetum beech forest with sparse vegetation. In the steeps are, however, a few small brooks and wet streams with alder, and in the bottom of the valley grows alder, ash, elm, bird cherry and hazel. Along the wet streams the forest contains trees of different age with elements of big trees, high-stumps and lying wood. Here is also a rich grove vegetation.

4.2 Quality and importance

The mixed deciduous forest of different age together with the streaming water gives a variable environment for many plant- and animal species.
