  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

In the south-west the original lake remains with adjacent lowland hay meadows. The meadows are grazed by cows. In the central part there is an unaffected island with western taiga. The vegetation is rich in some parts of the area and holds species as elm, ash, hazel, Daphne mezéreum, Stachys sylvática, Paris quadrifolium and more. The birdlife is of great importance. During the period of reproduction you find more than 40 species within the lake area and many more that are living in the surroundings. During the period of migration and winter, the area is of great importance also and you can find species as Cygnus cygnus in large number during winter.

4.2 Quality and importance

The wet meadows of Gillbergasjön are insufficiently grazed, which has caused a decrease in the naumber of species and individuals of wetland birds that occur on the site. Restoration is under way, and Gillbergasjön will successively retain its quality as a wetland area of regional and in some aspects national importance.
