Other Site Characteristics

Natural, mainly secondary, mixed forest on formerly heavily charcoal-logged ground. The charcoal exploitation lasted for several centuries, but ceased during the second half of the 1900th century. Despite this history the area is today a habitat for a number of endangered forest species.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site has importance as habitat for a number of redlisted forest lichens, mosses, fungi and birds. It is also of great scientific importance due to its combination of species indicating natural forest conditions and well documented history of intense charcoal logging.
