Other Site Characteristics

The mire Sörmyren consists of an active raised bog and those are rare this far to the east in the country. Some parts of the mire consists also of transition mires and quaking bogs. The stream Hynsån makes a lot of meanders on its way through the mire. Seperate pines are growing on the mire. The area is an interesting place for birds, for example crane (Grus grus).

4.2 Quality and importance

The existence of an well developed active raised bog, this far to the east is of great interest. The bird life at the mire is rich, which gives the area even higher value.
