Other Site Characteristics
| This site, with an old-growth-like forest, lies at the border to Norway and close to the large reserve Fulufjället. The spruces dominate, but there are also pines and some deciduous trees. The trees are of many different ages. The forest is very humid and therefore is the vegetation lushy and tall. At some places the ground is waterlogged and small brooks runs through the area. The field layer consists of shrubs, mostly bilberries, and sometimes mostly of herbaceous plants. There are a lot of dead wood and old windthrows in the forest. A lot of rare and threatened species among lichens, mosses, fungi and herbaceous plants excist in the forest. |
4.2 Quality and importance
| The forest in this area has developed natural and is not so much affected by human encroachments. By this, the characteristics which distinguish a naturally regenerated forest does exist, namely a richness of coarse trees, dead trees and old windthrows, and those species who belongs here. These circumstances are very unusal in the forest land of today, and many of the species which will be found here are rare, redlisted and threatened. This gives the area very high values. |
