Other Site Characteristics

Kloster is situated in a large plain which becomes flooded every year when the water level of the sea Flinesjön increases. Along the shores embankments have been created. These embankments and the shores along are slowly changing due to erosion and sedimentation. This nearshore marchland is partly covered by broad-leaved decidous woodland while the other parts consists of humid grassand important to many species of breeding birds. The site is a very valuable bird place, mostly for migratory birds but also for breeding birds. The site is part of the Hovranarea wich is on the CW-list.

4.2 Quality and importance

The special flora which excist on the shores and the rich bird life is much valuable for the area. Four bird-watching towers are situated in the area, which are popular places for bird-watchers.
