Other Site Characteristics

Långvind, at the Baltic coast, can be caracterized as a broken wooded landscape, with some rocky parts especially along the shoreline at the eastern part of the site where also extended gravel fields can be found. The site is also caracterized of large shallow inlets with lots of small wooded islets, small narrow inlets and lagoons some of them just in order to be separated from the baltic due to the fast upheaval which in this part of Sweden is almost 70 cm/100 years. Some small lakes are recently separated from the sea.

4.2 Quality and importance

Långvind is one of the most spectacular shallow coastal areas of the county. It is most important as a reproduction site to fish. The vegetation of Chara in the shallow inlets and lagoons is rich and spectacular.

6.3 Conservation measures (optional)

Långvind is planned to be an Nature Reserve. As the shallow bays, inlets and lagoons are vulnerable to the effects from motor boats some restrictions in the boat traffic will be necessary.
