Other Site Characteristics

The medium-sized river Testeboån is running through a merely flat landscpe rich in boulders on its way towards the Baltic. It is mainly uncontrolled. The shores are regularly flooded by the annual rise of the river. The river is here and there divided into several branches and there are lots of stony streams.

4.2 Quality and importance

The river Testeboån is of national interest to environmental care. It is a popular excursion site and wellknown as valuable fishing-waters.Testeboån is a valuable spawning area for Salmo salar and Salmo trutta trutta. It is also of great significance as a gene-bank resource for the Salmo salar in the river Dalälven. The flora in the site Testeboån is rich and exclusive with many nationally red-listed species of which some is living at the border of their distribution. The conditions for the bird life are good.
