Skyddad enligt Miljöbalken 4 kap 6 §. Vattenkraftverk samt vattenreglering eller vattenöverledning för kraftändamål får inte utföras inom denna älvsträckas vattenområde med tillhörande käll- och biflöden.Förslaget omfattar sjöar och vattendrag inom hela avrinningsområdet exklusive de delar som redan ingår i SE0720084 Vålådalen. Den aktuella delen av avrinningsområdet uppgår till 46114 ha och huvudälvfårans sträcka är ca 35 km inom alpin region.Delen uppströms Ljungdalen, 16 km, är av habitattypen alpina vattendrag med örtrik strandvegetation och delen Ljungdalen - utloppet i Storsjön av habitattypen naturliga större vattendrag.Uppströms Ljungdalen är ån delvis kantad av rikkärr, nedströms Ljungdalen har den meandrande lopp med korvsjöar. Deltabildning vid utloppet i Storsjön. Flera biflöden med alpin strandvegetation.Rödlistade arter: Öring / Salmo trutta (H4), harr / Thymallus thymallus (H4).
