Other Site Characteristics

Protected from modern forestry due to that the Same's of Ö Kikkejaure has been using this area for marking of reindeercalves since ancient times. The place where choosen as a summerresidence due to the many consisting fishinglakes, a brook that gave freshwater and due to that the connecting bogs where good for the grazing reindeers during the summertime. In the reindeerfenses there are many coarse spruce- and pinetrees and also some high dry standing trunks. The area is relative flat besides the eastern part, which has a steep slope down to the brook Krubbjokk. The pineforest is dominating with lichenscrub-type and mixed coniferous forest of fresh blueberry-type with varying contribution of birch. Older selective loggings has reduced the abundance of coarsed pinetrees and in some parts the dead wood are used. Still there are both coarsed overaged pinetrees, dry trunks and fallen pinelogs, even if the frequency is quite low and the fallen logs already strongly decomposted. The vegetation in the gullie is lush with contributing lowgrowing vascular plants. The spruce is more common and also some broad-leaved trees, mainly birch, but also some older sallows and aspen, contributed with many treefungus indicating long continuity of fallen logs, such as Onnia leporina, Fomitopsis rosea and Phlebia centrifuga. These and other continuity-indicators where also found in a more spurcedominating area, along the lakes in the nortwestern part, namely Skeletocutis tschulymica, Phellinus ferrugineofuscus. Connected to the lakes there are some bogs with high abundances of sedgespecies, Carex rostrata, C. vesicaria, C. lasiocarpa and bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata) and cotton-grass (Eriophorum angustifolium).
