- PF: for the habitat types that can have a non-priority as well as a priority form (6210, 7130, 9430) enter "X" in the column PF to indicate the priority form.
- NP: in case that a habitat type no longer exists in the site enter: x (optional)
- Cover: decimal values can be entered
- Caves: for habitat types 8310, 8330 (caves) enter the number of caves if estimated surface is not available.
- Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation)
3.2 Species referred to in Article 4 of Directive 2009/147/EC and listed in Annex II of Directive 92/43/EEC and site evaluation for them
- Group: A = Amphibians, B = Birds, F = Fish, I = Invertebrates, M = Mammals, P = Plants, R = Reptiles
- S: in case that the data on species are sensitive and therefore have to be blocked for any public access enter: yes
- NP: in case that a species is no longer present in the site enter: x (optional)
- Type: p = permanent, r = reproducing, c = concentration, w = wintering (for plant and non-migratory species use permanent)
- Unit: i = individuals, p = pairs or other units according to the Standard list of population units and codes in accordance with Article 12 and 17 reporting (see reference portal)
- Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
- Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics
The mountainous area around the Stora Sjöfallet is very variable with high massifs and low mountainous ridges, flat high plains and deep entranced valleys. The area is so to say devided into two parts due to the depression with the up dammed water regulating reservoir Akkajaure. The Satihaure - Langas area comprises a mountain ridge, situated between the regulating reservoir Satihaure and the lake Langas comprising varying terrain forms at the melting water-rills, at Juovvapåkvarati showing glacial river canyons with a large blocky delta and at Pärvie a spectacular120 km elongated fault-line. Large well developed glacifluvial terraces and outwashed plains with outwashed glacifluvial material together with large differences in altitudes gives a variety of vegetation types. Around Langas and in the Vietasvalley are virgin pine forests growing, the western coniferous forest outpost of northern Lapland, mainly pineforest of a dry- fresh- scrub type with ages generally ranging 200-500 yr and partly high amounts dry trunks and naturally fallen logs. Higher up the mountain birch forest continues and on the bare mountain Juobmotjåkka are lime demanding vegetations. Also in the Teusadalen are birchforest with luxuriant meadow forests and spots with rare herbs. The wolfsbane Aconitum septentrionale are often tall as a man and widely distributed together with the sowthistles Lactuca alpina.. The acidic bedrock gives rise to a vegetation with a limited variety of flora throughout large areas of the park. The shrubheaths are mainly dominated by Betula nana, crowberry (Empetrum hermaphroditum), and bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus). At the Kierkaumassif the vegetation gets more lush with arctic rhododendron (Rhododendron lapponicum) and the mountain avens (Dryas octopetala) The lichen species around the Stora Sjöfallet are also of great interests. The development of hydro- electric power (HEP) in the park resulted in changing waterflow over the famous Stora Sjöfallet waterfall, adversely affecting the fauna. Some of the preybirds, such as the golden eagle and sea eagle no longer nest at their former sites. But still there are some preybirds observed and increases during the years of rodents. The stock of moose is chiefly strong in the forest covered valleys. |
4.2 Quality and importance
Stora Sjöfallet represents varied topography with high mountain massifs and low mountain ridges, glaciers, boulder fields flat high plains covered by grasslands and alpine heaths, deep valleys contributed virgin pine forest, areas with mountain birch. The acidic bedrock resulting in a limited variety of flora despite patches of Papaver radicatum hyperborum.Other important species motivated "other reasons" are regionaly endangered species. |
