Other Site Characteristics

Large forest complex on karstic plateau on the north side of the Krka river. Important for large carnivores and troglobiont fauna.

4.2 Quality and importance

Very well preserved and managed illyrian beech forest north of the large forest supplementary to the forest complex of Koeevje. Important for brown bear and forest bat species (Myotis myotis, M. blythii). Forest is growing on the karst system with many caves. Some of them are spelobiologically important. Known localities for Leptodirus hochenwarti and Proteus anguinus. Important role of the site in network coherence (corridors).
