Other Site Characteristics

Almost entire territory of Kamniko Savinske Alps in Slovenia. Well preserved and developed all mountain ecosystems of south eastern calcareous alps from alpine valleys up to the mountain tops.

4.2 Quality and importance

Very well preserved alpine ecosystems, natural processes are in place. Caves, but they are not very rich with troglobiont fauna. All typical alpine ecosystems are well developed (alpine grasslands, chasmophyte vegetation, calcareous screes). Outstanding are dwarf pine complexes, black pine pioneer forests and limestone pavements.
