Ložnica je levi pritok Savinje. V zgornjem delu struga meandrira po razširjenih in uravnanih dolinah, ki se izmenjujejo z ožjimi dolinami s strmimi brežinami. Ložnica se pri Polzeli izvije iz soteske Socka in zareže svojo strugo v širše in uravnano dolinsko dno. Zaradi majhnega strmca ima struga lastnosti nižinskega toka z bolj ali manj izrazitimi meandri in pestro obvodno vegetacijo sredi intenzivno obdelanih kmetijskih površin.
