  • S: in case that the data on species are sensitive and therefore have to be blocked for any public access enter: yes
  • NP: in case that a species is no longer present in the site enter: x (optional)
  • Type: p = permanent, r = reproducing, c = concentration, w = wintering (for plant and non-migratory species use permanent)
  • Unit: i = individuals, p = pairs or other units according to the Standard list of population units and codes in accordance with Article 12 and 17 reporting (see reference portal)
  • Abundance categories (Cat.): C = common, R = rare, V = very rare, P = present - to fill if data are deficient (DD) or in addition to population size information
  • Data quality: G = 'Good' (e.g. based on surveys); M = 'Moderate' (e.g. based on partial data with some extrapolation); P = 'Poor' (e.g. rough estimation); VP = 'Very poor' (use this category only, if not even a rough estimation of the population size can be made, in this case the fields for population size can remain empty, but the field "Abundance categories" has to be filled in)

Other Site Characteristics

The Nanoeica river basin is situated in the lover Pivka valley near Postojna at the edge of a large depression. High limestone mountains surround the site. There are strong springs of pure karst water flowing to Nanoeica river basin, that is situated on the sandstone flish and gravel water, and therefore water resistant. The annual flooding at the lover parts of the site is regular. Because of the wet ground in the basin farming is possible only on the driest border of the site. The river has numerous meanders with well-preserved riverbeds, wet meadows and small areas of reed and sedges. Less than 15% of the area is covered by mixed forest and remnants of alluvial wet oak forest. Well preserved wet meadows cover the valley bottoms and mesofil grassland occur on the driest edge and hill slopes. Together the grassland and the arable land cover half of the site.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site is important because of is strong population of Crex crex (30-40 singing males). The well-preserved wet meadows hold nationally important number of other grassland birds. SPA is also important for migrating passerine birds.
