Other Site Characteristics

The site represents an artifical fishpond in the lowland of Senianska depresia depression. Vegetation: communities of Phragmites australis, Carex sp., Salix cinerea and alluvial meadows of ass. Alopecurion pratnesis. Geological basement of the site consists of clayes, dust, sands and gravels.

4.2 Quality and importance

Site is one of the three most important areas in Slovakia for nesting of Ardea purpurea, Egretta garzetta, Egretta alba, Platalea leucorodia, Nycticorax nycticorax, Botaurus stellaris, Circus aeruginosus, Chlidonias hybridus, Recurvirostra avosetta and is one of the five areas for nesting of Limosa limosa and Tringa totanus.
