Other Site Characteristics

Well-preserved beech stands and beech mixtures with especially valuable broadleaved tree species represent the site. Geological basement is of a stratocone structure, it represents the westernmost polygenetic volcano within the Sarmatian stratocone complex. It is formed by andesitic lava containing tephra. Prevalent soils are Dystric Cambisols and Cambic Umbrisols.

4.2 Quality and importance

Maintenance of the primeval forest communites with the native wood composition, well-preserved structure and rich herbaceous undergrowth. One part of the site is situated within the Kyjovský prales (Kyjov Primeval Forest) National Nature Reserve.
