Other Site Characteristics

Klátovské rameno river branch flows in the NW-SE direction through the central part of Podunajská rovina Plain and it flows as a right-handed tributary into Malý Dunaj River. Elevation varies between 112-118 m a.s.l. Quaternary deposits of Danube River, especially gravels-sands, form a basement of the site. The relief is fluvial. The contact of the river branch with the main channel was interrupted in a consequence of the flood control dikes construction. Currently, the branch is supplied from the groundwater sources and two meliorative channels that flows in the branch. Potential native vegetation is represented by mixed ash-elm-oak floodplain forests (Fraxino-Ulmetum) and willow-poplar floodplain forests (Salici-Populetum) in the waterlogged areas.

4.2 Quality and importance

Current Klátovské rameno National Nature Reserve. Occurrence of protected flora and fauna species bounded to water, marsh and floodplain habitats.
