Other Site Characteristics

The site joins into one piece the three present nature reserves with a remarkable geomorphological structure - left upstanding calcareous klippes of the klippen zone of Biele Karpaty Mts. in a complex with forests and grasslands.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site is a part of the Biele Karpaty PLA and it includes three Nature Reserves: Červenokamenské bradlo, Vršatské bradlá and Vršatské hradné bralo. Aim of the protection is to preserve the broad complex of communities of high klippes and forests on limestone with the occurrence of several nationally protected spieces, e.g. Aster alpinus, Pedicularis comosa (the only locality of occurrence in Slovakia). The species Tephroseris longifolia subsp. moravica is of the richest occurrence within Slovakia here. The site is important also for the occurrence of rare fungi. With its habitat and species composition, the site significantly contributes to the preservation of typical European biodiversity.
