Other Site Characteristics

The site lies on the gravel sandy sediments of Váh River, which achieves the depth up to 10 m here. From the geomorphological point of view, the site lies in the narrow neck of the valley, which separates Trenčianska and Ilavská basins.

4.2 Quality and importance

Aim of the protection is firstly to preserve the character of the stream with relatively native fish synusia - in addition to stock of Hucho hucho, the species Rutilus pigus, Gymnocephalus schraetzer, Aspius aspius, Gobio albipinnatus, Rhodeus sericeus and Cobitis elongatoides=taenia occur within the site. Váh River represents here also the important biocorridor and migration route of birds that often stop here.
