Other Site Characteristics

Territory north of the village of Omšenie in Strážov Hills - a complex of forests, rocks, meadows, pastures and wetlands extending from the Kamenné vráta to the eastern slopes of the Omšenská baba (the erosive slag of the Chočský príkrov). Typical for the area are lime-like beech trees with abundant orchid species, including the rare Corallorhiza trifida , on the deforested slopes of the slopes of large, partially grazing sheep pastures. On the forest meadows there is an exceptionally rare Tephroseris longifolia ssp. Moravica, rare is also the flora and fauna of limestone springs and fens under Baba hill.

4.2 Quality and importance

The aim of territorial protection is to maintain agricultural used non-forest habitats, to conserve free range pasture, to restore successively modified pastures and to manage them. On forest land, maintaining and improving the favorable state of forest habitats.
