Other Site Characteristics

The Large lowland boundary flow in south-eastern tip of Slovakia, with sandy banks of the river and fragments of soft floodplain forests.

4.2 Quality and importance

The area is an important habitat for endangered and protected species of fish, including species of European importance whose populations with their occurrence and reproduction are bound to lowland rivers. The territory also includes habitats of European significance, floodplain willow-poplar and alder forests, and floodplain oak-elm-ashwood forests around lowland rivers.
