Other Site Characteristics

The location is characterized by a high biological value as the habitat of amphibians, fish, mammals, reptiles and communities of plants of national and European importance bound to the local wetlands. The occurrence of amphibians and water birds is accompanied by the proximity of CHA Revištský rybník (SKUEV0638). The affected area is an important link of several ÚEV in basin area of the Hron river, the subject of protection which are fishes. The supraregional significance of the Hron river in the territorial system of ecological stability of the whole area Pohronie is supported by the high degree of habitats conservation of the river itself, which, compared to other rivers in Slovakia, has remained above average in natural form. The Hron River is a large migratory corridor for spieces with a strong migratory sense (migration over 100 km) even for part of the Danube community, especially its ichthyofauna.

4.2 Quality and importance

The aim of protection is in particular to protect European important fish species while preserving the current status of their habitats. Due to the Concept of Hydroenergetic potential of Slovakia's Flows, it will be important to ensure the permanent migration flow of the Hron River without barrier effects. In the case of fish habitats as well as 91E0 habitat, it will be the main maintaining the current state. Taking into account, in particular, 10 Council Directive 92/43 / EEC of 21 May 1992 on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora ,is from the point of view of nature conservation, important to preserve the ecological continuity of the Natura 2000 system and migration flow minimizing the barrier effect of transverse structures in the watercourses.
