Other Site Characteristics

The Bodva river basin has a considerable habitat variability, due to the variety of physical and geographical conditions in this area. There is a significant contrast between the upper and lower part of the basin. The relative natural structure of ichthyocenoses is preserved thanks to territorial protection in the Slovak and also in the Hungarian parts of the basin.

The area is proposed to protection species of European significance, Barbus meridionalis, Gobio albipinnatus, Gobio kessleri, Gobio uranoscopus, Rhodeus sericeus amarus, Sabanejewia aurata, Zingel streber.
