Other Site Characteristics

The site is located in orographic units Horehronské podolie and Zvolenska basin. Basement consists of fluvial alluvial clay or gravel clay. Axis territory is covered by Hron river bed with coastal habitats.

4.2 Quality and importance

The site is a significant migratory corridor for aquatic animals and important resting places for birds during spring and autumn migration. Coastal habitats form an important basis for seasonal food for selected species of birds. Excellent food and reproductive conditions are viable for otter population. The site is largely part of the buffer zone of Low Tatras National Park.
