Other Site Characteristics

Site is covered by xerotherm grasslands with Juniperus and - in ravines - with yards of other tree, mainly Robinia pseudoacacia. Succession tree species occurr in half of the site. It is framed by arable land and partially by forest stands. Soil is sandy, shallow with sandstone substrate. Softly modelled sandstone ranges ascend from the landcape creating a geomorphologically remarkable feature.

4.2 Quality and importance

Xerotherm plant and animal communities of high biodiversity have been developed here due to long-term use of hte site. Well preserved Juniperus stands grow here along with Linum hirsutum ssp. glabrescens (one of the best sites in Slovakia). There are also many protected species of national interest such as Pulsatilla pratensis subsp. bohemica, Chrysopogon gryllus or Stipa sp. present here. Site is part of SKCHVU003 Cerová vrchovina - Porimavie, part of it ovelaps with the Vinohrady Protected Site and proposed Drnianske chrbáty Protected Site..
