The Papod Hill rises far above from its surroundings with its 644 m height above sea level. Steep slopes mainly consisted of dolomite and limestone are cut deeply by steep valleys. On the surface of foothills of Papod Hill predominantly karstic dry grasses can be found, but for the effect of karstic waters turning up to the surface fens also developed on peat.

On northern slopes mixed karstic woods are relatively frequent, conserving several relict species. On southern slopes mosaic of dry oakwoods and grass fragments with very valuable flora and fauna are characteristic. For the effect of karstic springs upwelling to the surface expanded fens had developed thus increasing the diversity of the area.
