Other Site Characteristics

Sandy soiled flatland with low hills in south-west of Hungary. Vegetation includes the species of sand steppes, mezophile grassland, alkaline fens and marshes in lower lands. In addition there are some alluvial forests (Alnus glutinosa) along the streams and water ditches, woodland patches of Robinia pseudo-acacia, Pinus silvestris (with Pyrola sp.) and a few Populus tremula wood. Open areas are mostly grasslands and abandoned agricultural sites.
