It is an area of outstanding significance for the preservation of the endangered species of Eurasian steppes (saker, imperial eagle, red-footed falcon, roller and lesser grey shrike). There are extensive wetland habitats and their size is expected to grow, as a result of reconstruction projects. Ecological conditions are good.
