4.1 General site character

Total Habitat Cover

Other Site Characteristics

The mountain meadows are partly managed, but the majority of the grasslands are in the shrub - young forest succesional stage. The adjacent mountain villages (Mtraszentimre, Mtraszentlszl, Fallskt) have a significant unfavourable pressure on the Natura 2000 site (ski-resorts, recreation centre, off-road & 4-wheel vehicles, mushroom picking activities, etc.)

There are occurrences of several species rare in the country and internationally. It has preserved several montane species. Aconitum anthora, Alchemilla monticola, Anemona nemorosa, Daphne mezereum, Dianthus deltoides, Dianthus collinus, Dryopteris carthusiana, Gentianella austriaca, Iris variegata, Jovibarba hirta, Lilium martagon, Lunaria rediviva, Lycnis coronaria, Nepeta nuda, Polystichum aculeatum, Scrophularia vulgaris, Sorbus graeca, Thalictrum aquilegifolium, Limenitis camilla, Nymphalis antiopa are all protected in Hungary and are biogeographically significant, many of them are indicators of the good condition of the area.
