Other Site Characteristics

The site is composed of various habitats: the most important parts are the unregulated section of River Ipoly and the floodplain area with different riverside terrains with diverse birdlife.

4.2 Quality and importance

„Kiemelt fontossg cl a kvetkezo madrfajok kedvezo termszetvdelmi helyzetnek fenntartsa, helyrelltsa": Klto fajok: Jgmadr (Alcedo atthis), Vrs gm (Ardea purpurea), Cignyrce (Aythya nyroca), Blmbika (Botaurus stellaris), Barna rtihja (Circus aeruginosus), Haris (Crex crex), Trpegm (Ixobrychus minutus), Tvisszr gbics (Lanius collurio), Bakcs (Nycticorax nycticorax), Kis vzicsibe (Porzana parva), Pettyes vzicsibe (Porzana porzana), Karvalyposzta (Sylvia nisoria), Kis vcsk (Tachybaptus ruficollis). Vonul madrfajok: Kanalas rce (Anas clypeata), Csrgo rce (Anas crecca), Toks rce (Anas platyrhynchos), Bjti rce (Anas querquedula), Kendermagos rce (Anas strepera), Nagy lilik (Anser albifrons), Kis lilik (Anser erythropus), Vetsi ld (Anser fabalis), Kontyos rce (Aythya fuligula), Vrsnyak ld (Branta ruficollis), Nagy goda (Limosa limosa), Aranylile (Pluvialis apricaria), Rti cank (Tringa glaerola). The flooded areas in spring in the unregulated sections of River Ipoly play an essential role in the conservation of the natural habitats with outstanding birdlife. The key of the conservation of the area is the close cross-border collaboration with the Slovak partners over the protected areas.
