Kiemelt fontosságú cél a következő fajok/élőhelytípusok kedvező természetvédelmi helyzetének fenntartása, lehetőség szerinti fejlesztése: Élőhelyek: 6260 Pannon homoki gyepek 6510 Sík- és dombvidéki kaszálórétek (Alopecurus pratensis, Sanguisorba officinalis) 91I0 Euro-szibériai erdősztyepp tölgyes Fajok: Ürge (Spermophilus citellus) Nagy tűzlepke (Lycaena dispar) Pannonic sand dune area on the marginal part of the NE-Hungarian sand district. Small freshwater-marshes occur in the eolic valleys. Relatively large complex of habitats which are originally typical of the South-Nyírség.

Általános célkitűzések: A Natura 2000 terület természetvédelmi célkitűzése az azon található, a kijelölés alapjául szolgáló fajok és élőhelytípusok kedvező természetvédelmi helyzetének megőrzése, fenntartása, helyreállítása, valamint a Natura 2000 területek lehatárolásának alapjául szolgáló természeti állapot és a kedvező természetvédelmi állapottal összhangban lévő gazdálkodás feltételeinek biztosítása. Specifikus célok és végrehajtandó intézkedések: - A gyepek jelenlegi (helyenként a jelenleginél jobb) állapotának fenntartását célzó legeltetési/kaszálási rendszer kidolgozása. A fő cél a területen található ürge (Spermophilus citellus) állomány és a homoki gyeptársulások fennmaradásának biztosítása; - A jelölő élőhelyek veszélyeztetésének csökkentése érdekében a vadföldek őshonos fajokkal való erdősítése; - Az érintett belvízlevezető szerepű csatornák jelenleginél kíméletesebb kezelése-fenntartása (kotrás, vízi növényzet irtása stb.). A természetvédelmi célú vízvisszatartó létesítmények fenntartandók és újak telepítendők; - Bolygatott, nyílt területek gyomirtó kaszálása, égetése; - Inváziós, illetve tájidegen fa- és cserjefajok (akác, kései meggy stb.) folyamatos visszaszorítása a gyepekről, az ilyen fajok uralta szegélyező, tervezett erdőkben fafajcsere őshonos, a tájra és élőhelyekre természetesen jellemző fajokra. Amennyiben ezen inváziós fajok őshonosak mellett, elegyben vannak jelen, folyamatosan eltávolítandók, sarj- és újulatképződésük megakadályozandó; - Az invaziós lágyszárú növények (főleg selyemkóró, aranyvessző fajok.) folyamatos visszaszorítása a gyepről; - A terület nagyvadállományának olyan szinten tartása, ami nem károsítja a gyepek állapotát.
