Általános célkitűzések: A Natura 2000 terület természetvédelmi célkitűzése az azon található, a kijelölés alapjául szolgáló fajok és élőhelytípusok kedvező természetvédelmi helyzetének megőrzése, fenntartása, helyreállítása, valamint a Natura 2000 területek lehatárolásának alapjául szolgáló természeti állapot és a kedvező természetvédelmi állapottal összhangban lévő gazdálkodás feltételeinek biztosítása. Specifikus célok és végrehajtandó intézkedések: A nád és gyékény vágása, aratása, a kubikgödrök part felőli benádasodásának visszaszorítására, mert a nádasodási folyamat valamennyi jelölő faj élőhelyét csökkenti, de a mételyfű állománya különösen veszélyeztetett; A korábbi, töltésparti iszapfelszínek, mint fontos élőhelyek, emberi tevékenységekhez kötve alakultak ki, ezért ezek fenntartása, megőrzése érdekében egyes tóegységek korlátozott újrahasznosítása halászati-horgászati szempontból is megvizsgálandó; A töltés növényzetének legeltetése, esetleg kaszálása.
