This site consists of vast salt steppes and humid grasslands altering with arable lands.

Kiemelt fontosságú cél a következő fajok/élőhelyek kedvező természetvédelmi helyzetének fenntartása és helyreállítása: Élőhely: Pannon szikes sztyeppek és mocsarak 1530 Faj: Nagy szikibagoly (Gortyna borelii lunata) The salt steppes have international significance as they can't be found in Western Europe.

Általános célkitűzések: A Natura 2000 terület természetvédelmi célkitűzése az azon található, a kijelölés alapjául szolgáló fajok és élőhelytípusok kedvező természetvédelmi helyzetének megőrzése, fenntartása, helyreállítása, valamint a Natura 2000 területek lehatárolásának alapjául szolgáló természeti állapot és a kedvező természetvédelmi állapottal összhangban lévő gazdálkodás feltételeinek biztosítása. Specifikus célok: A pannon szikes sztyeppek és mocsarak élőhelytípus állományainak fenntartása aktív természetvédelmi kezeléssel (legeltetés, kaszálás). A pannon szikes sztyeppek és mocsarak élőhelytípusba tartozó sziki erdőspuszta-rét társulás állományainak esetében a legeltetés és kaszálás általános mellőzése; cserjésedés, gyomosodás esetén a kaszálás esetenkénti alkalmazása. Az aktuális természeti állapothoz igazodó legeltetési rendszer kialakítása a túllegeltetés/alullegeltetés elkerülése érdekében. A gyepek cserjésedésének megakadályozása aktív élőhelykezeléssel. Az inváziós növényfajok (többek között a keskenylevelű ezüstfa, fehér akác, gyalogakác, amerikai kőris, zöld juhar, selyemkóró) visszaszorítása, terjedésének megakadályozása megfelelő természetvédelmi kezeléssel. A gyepek és vizes élőhelyek természetesnek megfelelő vízellátásának biztosítása megfelelő vízkormányzással. A pannon szikes sztyeppek és mocsarak élőhelytípus területi arányának növelése, különösen a területek koherenciájának növelése, elsősorban a gyepterületek közé ékelődő, szántóföldi művelésre kevésbé alkalmas területek visszagyepesítésével. A gépjárművek okozta taposási károk mérséklése a gyepterületeken.
