Other Site Characteristics

"Other land" categories are: small farms, canals, minor roads and fishponds 80 %. The fishponds were created from a natural sodic pond. Due to the decline of fishery activities and the natural succession processes in the last decade, the ponds look like semi-natural sodic marshes.

4.2 Quality and importance

Kiemelt fontossg cl a kvetkezo fajok kedvezo termszetvdelmi helyzetnek fenntartsa: Lutra lutra (vidra). Kiemelt fontossg cl a kvetkezo lohelyek s fajok kedvezo termszetvdelmi helyzetnek helyrelltsa: 1530 (pannon szikes sztyeppk s mocsarak), Misgurnus fossilis (rti csk), Umbra krameri (lpi pc), Emys orbicularis (mocsri teknos). It has good quality - in spite of canalisation - and great importance from the point of view of water birds and salt habitats. The quality of the wetlands and sodic areas highly depends on precipitation. It is part of an important ecological corridor consisting of wetlands and passing from north to south. It has a lot of plant and animal species protected by national law.
